Our staff has experience in training teams and players from all levels of soccer: High School, Club, ODP, College, and Professional.

Drew Hoffman

Head Men's Coach Washington College

Drew was named the 10th head coach in Washington College men’s soccer history in 2006. Hoffman came to Washington from the United States Military Academy (ARMY), where he served as the top assistant coach since 2000. Hoffman got his start in college coaching at his alma mater, West Chester University from 1996 until1999. Drew also coached in the Eastern New York and Eastern Pennsylvania ODP programs Hoffman holds a National “A” from the United States Soccer Federation and a Premier Diploma from the NSCAA. He is a currently working with Maryland’s ODP as well as with MYSA’s Coaching Education and the Freestate Soccer Alliance. As a player at West Chester, Hoffman had an outstanding four-year career and helped lead the Golden Rams to a school record 14 wins in 1994 and the ECAC Semi-Finals.

Brent Jacquette

Head Men's Soccer Coach Widener University

Took over as the ninth men’s soccer coach in Widener history. Just the team’s third head coach in the last 29 years, Jacquette takes over after serving two seasons as an assistant.  The 2008 campaign was a magical one as the Pride upset top-seeded Lebanon Valley in the Commonwealth Conference semifinals and competed in the ECAC South Tournament.  The nine victories was the most since the 2004 squad picked up 10. The Wallingford, PA native arrived at Widener after serving in 2005 as the boys’ JV coach and assistant varsity coach at Strath Haven High School.  He also competed in the United Soccer Leagues with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in 2003 and the Minnesota Thunder in 2004. Jacquette also enjoyed a successful collegiate playing career, being named All-America and two-time All-Big Ten Conference defender at Penn State.  He was tabbed a Collegiate MVP by Soccer America in 2002 and was selected to participate in the Major League Soccer combine in 2003.

Matt Brown

Assistant Men's Soccer Coach Haverford College, Head GK Trainer Castle

Matt joined the Haverford College Staff in the fall of 2009. Before he arrived at Haverford Matt spent three years on Greensboro College men's soccer coaching staff where he helped the Pride to two USA SOUTH CONFERENCE championships and   two NCAA tournament appearances. A four-year starting goalkeeper at Greensboro College, Brown is first in career wins (37) and second in career saves (222).  He was a member of  Three USA SOUTH CONFERENCE championship teams and appeared in three NCAA Tournaments guiding Greensboro College to the Sweet 16 his Freshman year.  Brown  was captain of the Pride his senior year as he earned All South-region team ,North Carolina College All-State and was named  USA South All Conference Team twice. Matt Played three seasons in the USL, 2003 for Raleigh, 2004 and 2005 for the Carolina Dynamo. The 2004 Carolina Dynamo won the Eastern Conference Championship and advanced to the National PDL Semi-Finals. In 2006 Brown joined the Dynamo Coaching staff as an assistant Coach in charge of the Dynamo Goalkeepers.

Steve Kilby 

 

Men and Women’s Head Coach Indian River H.S.

2010 Henlopen Conference Champions

 

Coach Kilby has coached Indian River for six years, in 2008 IR Men  reached the Delaware State Semi- Finals. During his time at IR Kilby's teams have won Four Henlopen Conference Championships 05,06,07,10. He holds a USSF "C" License, NCSAA Coaches Diploma, USSF Youth License.  Steve earned State and Regional Coach of the Year honors in 2008.  Coach Kilby has been a Staff Coach for Delaware ODP for the past 10 years. Coach Kilby has coached various teams throughout his career, including teams from New Hampshire, and Delaware. Steve is also on the DYSA coaching education and licensing Staff. Kilby is also the Director of Coaching for the River Soccer club a position he has held since 2001.

Brian Derrickson

 

Head Coach Middletown High School

 

Brian has been the Head Coach of Middletown since 1994. Honored as State Coach of the year of both genders since that time. Coach Derrickson Holds an USSF “B” License and has toured his club teams twice to the Gothia Cup in Sweden. In 2008 and 2009 Middletown’s men reached the Delaware State High School Final, while the girl’s program reached the state final four twice in 2006 and 2007. Brian led the Cavs men to three straight Blue Hen conference Championships 2008, 2007 and 2006. Coach Derrickson has the most wins in the history of Middletown High School Soccer.

George Black

Head Men's Soccer Coach Red Bank Catholic H.S.

Coach Black has been at Red Bank Catholic for five seasons and has been on the Carolina Dynamo Super Camp Staff for the past four seasons. Black has been a Staff Coach at West End Soccer.  He was New Jersey Prep All-State Player and competed on two New Jersey State Championship teams. George was a four year starter for Wesley College. Coach Black led Red Bank Catholic to the playoffs for the past two seasons.

Eddie Gibbons

Head Coach Men’s and Women’s at St. Elizabeth’s High School

Gibbons has been the head coach at St. Elizabeth’s since 2002. St’ Elizabeth’s has four state tournament appearances under coach Gibbons watch. Holds a USSF “B” license, and is a staff coach for the state of Delaware Olympic Development Program, Eddie Coaches club soccer for Hockessin Soccer Club. During his college career Gibbon’s was a four year starter and captain for Wesley College.

Paul Booton

Paul holds a USSF "B" License and has been the head coach of the Dover High School Boys Program for 5 years now. His team has made the state tournament 3 of those years reaching the quarterfinals two times.  Coach Booton is the current Director of Coaching for the Central Delaware Soccer Association, where he has been coaching for over the last 20 years.  He is also on the Delaware Coaching Education Staff, and has previously  been part of the Olympic Development Program coaching staff. 2010 Coach Booton led Dover Men to a North Division title of the Henlopen Conference.

John Berry

 

Head Men’s Coach Caravel Academy

 

Coach Berry has over 25 years of coaching soccer. He is the former assistant coach of the Delaware Wizards professional team. Berry led McKean High School to a High school State Championship. Coach Berry played collegiate soccer at the University of Delaware and played for Wallace F.C. the most successful men’s team in Delaware soccer. He has been on the coaching staff for Caravel Academy for the past six years, helping guide the Bucs to a State Championship in 2009. In 2010 Berry was appointed Head Coach of Caravel Academy, Coach Berry’s Bucs advanced to the State Championship Match in 2010. John has many youth club championships and has been on staff with some of the top soccer camps in the region.

Steve Weaver

 

Neumann University, Brandywine High School, Trainer Upper Darby YSA U-17’s

 

Steve has been the assistant coach at Brandywine for the past two seasons.  Coach Weaver coached in Germany, Belgium, and England as a Youth Professional Trainer for camp ages 10 thru 16. In 2010 Steve was a scout for Neumann University Men’s soccer team. Coach Weaver played collegiate soccer for Neumann University, where he was captain for three years and selected team MVP twice. Steve was a three time all conference selection at Neumann University.

Dwayne Lavender

 

CDSA Youth Academy Director, Assistant Coach Dover Varsity Boys and Caesar Rodney Girls.  

 

Coach Lavender is currently on the Staff Coach for Delaware’s Olympic Development program. Dwayne was selected All Conference three times and achieved All- State Honors as a prep player for Middletown and Glasgow High schools. He played collegiate soccer at Wesley College, an ECAC Finalist in 2004.
